The Twenty-Fourth Sunday After Trinity
Intent: The Truth that Makes Us Free
There is an intimate relationship between Truth, Light, Life, Love and Liberty as attributes of the Divine Propator. However, in many ways Truth is the heart of them all. Can Love truly exist when falsehood reigns between people? Can liberty really exist when our choices are not made of our own free will and accord because of deceit? Can the Light shine as brightly in one who lives falsely?
Truth is what ensures the authenticity of human experience and it is a Divine gift. The readings of today, drawn from the Prophet Mani and Christ speaking through the Master Jesus, are about this spiritual Truth. The one that our souls immediately recognize when we read sacred scripture. The kind of elevating Truth which pierces our hearts like an arrow.
Isn’t it incredible that after two thousand years we still feel the presence of that Liberating Truth in the words of Jesus? Yes, it is truly good news that our souls are able to recognize this Truth as the reading from the Gospel of St John declares:
“If ye continue in My word, then are ye My disciples indeed; and ye shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free."
Let us therefore as One Gnostic Community and One Universal Gnostic Church, recommit ourselves to leading lives of Truth. Let us not deceive others for instrumental gain, but hold fast to the Truth; for when we make It the centre of lives we will surely feel closer to that Glorious Divine Light which comes from above, and which dwells inside of us always in Spirit and in Truth. Amen!
