The Nature of the Gnostic Church
By Fabre Des Essarts
To the problem of creation the Gnosis answers: The physical world is the work of an inferior power; it is too badly made, too full of contradictions and horrors to have emanated directly from an infinitely good and just being.
To the problem of incarnation the Gnosis answers: The Aeon Christ descended from the Divine Pleroma and incarnated in Jesus to save Psychics of good will, but once his predication was finished, he entered into the bosom of the Pleroma and did not suffer the tortures of Golgotha.
To the social question the Gnosis answers: There is only one human family, which aspirations tend towards cursing war and incessantly marching towards a harmonious communism.
To the Question of Women the Gnosis answers: Women are the equals of men and the indisputable halves of the anthropomorphic Syzygy and therefore have every right to exercise full sacerdotal rights and by doing so, the vase (receptacle) of infirmity of which the catholic Church talks about, becomes the vase of the election of the Gnosis!
The duty of the Perfects (Parfaits and Parfaites), of the Deacons and Deaconesses, of the Bishops and the Sophias, which shines brightly in the depths of their consciences (perhaps “souls” is implied here as well) and which we will continue (or fulfill), is to spread around them the Gospel of peace and truth, and to multiply brotherly works so that every day grow more numerous the souls, like divine birds, that will come rest their wings underthe branches of the Sacred Tree.
(From the conclusion to Fabre Des Essarts’ ‘l’Arbre Gnostique,’ 1899.)
