Fourteenth Sunday After Trinity
Intent: Renewal of the Spirit
Today’s readings remind us of the importance of living a New Life every single day. To be constantly Baptised by renewing our contact with the Spirit within. Thus the collect reminds us that: “we are but a small spark sprung from the fullness of Thy Flame.” The lesson which is taken from Simon Magus reminds us not to mistaken this Flame for this current incarnation and that we are immortal beyond space and time. That our Spirit is the precious fruit not the husk of our lived lives and that it is our Spirit, that Spiritual Fire within, that will rejoin the Godhead and will be placed in the Storehouse of His Pleroma. The Gospel reading which is taken from St. Philip also reminds us that it is possible to receive this Light and its renewal right here and now on Earth and that contact with it will bring changes in perception and increased levels of consciousness. “If anyone does not receive it while he is in this world, he will not receive it in any other place… (to the person who has received it) The world has become the Aeon. For the Aeon is for him the Pleroma and it is in this manner; it is revealed to him alone, not hidden in the darkness and the night but hidden in a perfect day and a holy light.”
Therefore, let us as one Gnostic Community pray together that we may all be renewed by that Spirit and that our Lives may be transformed by it, and so transformed, transform the world around us into a greater semblance of that world which is above and which is within. Amen.
