Eighth Sunday of Winter

Picture
“Calming the Storm” by Rembrandt, 1633.
Jesus was in a boat in Lake Kinerett with his disciples, and other boats were following him. Suddenly there was a great wind that sets the sea in motion and pushed the waves into the boat, so that it filled up. Ieshu was fast asleep on a pillow at the stern. His disciples woke him up and said: Master, have you nothing to worry about? Ieshu said to them, Have no fear, but trust. And rising to his feet, he energetically commanded the wind and the sea. And the wind died down, and there was a great calm. The disciples were amazed, and said to one another, Who is this who is obeyed by the mother and the winds?
