Christmas Eve

Gospel Reading for Christmas Eve

Miriam was engaged to Ioseph. Before they lived together, it happened that a child was conceived in her womb by the Holy Spirit of life. Now Ioseph, her future husband, being a righteous man and not wanting to disgrace her, resolved to dismiss her secretly... But night brings counsel. Therefore, an angel appeared to him in red and said: Joseph, do not be afraid to take Miriam as your wife, for what she carries within her is holy. She will give birth to a son, and you shall call him Ieshu (savior) for he is the one destined to save humanity... Thus, Ieshu was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of King Herod the Great.
