Second Sunday of Summer
Gospel Reading
Do not think that I have come to abolish your moral laws. No, I have not come to abolish them, but to perfect them. For truly I say to you, unless your righteousness abounds more than that of your scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. You have heard that it was said to the elders: “you shall not kill; he who kills shall be condemned by judgment.” And I say to you: whoever intends to be angry with his brother will be condemned by the judgment, whoever intends to his brother, Raca, will be condemned by the council, and whoever calls him crazy will be condemned to the fire of Gehenna. If, therefore, leaving your gift before the altar you remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift before the altar, go first to be reconciled with your brother, and then you will come to offer your gift. |
