First Sunday of Summer
Gospel Reading
Blessed are those who suffer persecution for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. You will be happy when men curse you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil against you for my sake. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great. You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt goes bad, what can you use to salt it? It's only good then to be thrown away and trampled underfoot by men. You are like a city on a mountain that cannot be hidden. You are the torches of the world. And we don't light a lamp to put it under a bushel, but on it, so that it may shine on all those in the house. So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify our Father in heaven. |
