Eighth Sunday of Autumn
Gospel Reading
Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth: I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. Yes, I have come to separate a man from his father, a daughter from her mother, a daughter-in-law from her mother-in-law: a man's enemies will be his servants. A brother will laugh at his brother to death, and a mother at her son, and children will rise up against their parents and put them to death. He who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; he who loses his life for my sake will find it. Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear him who can cast both body and soul into Gehenna. |
